Artist Statement

 My photographs are designed to make permanent our occasional glimpses behind the surfaces of everyday life, revealing the emotions quietly residing in scenes or objects we tend to ignore. My love of the reflected, the fragmented, the isolated or rarely noticed image derives from a conviction that escaping the overcrowding of the urban landscape is less about actually leaving the city than about looking more carefully at its individual elements. 

  Much of my work evolves from a metropolitan perspective. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, I spent six years living in New York and have recently relocated to Dallas, Texas. In each new environment, I use my camera to identify and portray the individual character of the city and its inhabitants.
